Class Action Lawsuit Against Netflix

Law

It is easy to find Class Action Lawsuits Netflix on the internet. This type of case is usually filed by people who are filing a personal injury claim against Netflix because they are not getting their money for the illegal activities of the company. There are millions of people who are still members of Netflix, despite there being many reasons why they are quitting the service. The reasons can range from being dissatisfied with the quality of their shows and movies to the high prices that have been charged by the company. Whatever the reason, the point is, they have filed a class action lawsuit against Netflix in the local court in their jurisdiction.

What is interesting about these lawsuits is that most of them center on a specific issue or claim that has been the cause of economic hardships for the plaintiffs and class members.

Whether it is a lack of quality movies or a lack of customer service, there are people who feel that they deserve compensation for being stuck with an inferior product. There are even people who feel that Netflix should be held responsible for allowing customers to access pirated material through the peer to peer file sharing system.

The Class Action lawsuit Netflix filed against them was eventually thrown out of court.

One of the main reasons this happened was because some of the claims were either illegal or fraudulent. For instance, one of the claims stated that Netflix’s DVD rental process had an error which allowed customers to rent an unlimited amount of DVDs at once. While this is true, this is against the law as it is against Netflix’s terms of service.

It is very interesting that Netflix’s legal team would go to such lengths over something that doesn’t really fall into any of their areas of expertise.

One could argue that the suits are nothing more than extortion tactics. After all, there were probably many customers who complained about the DVD rental process being unreliable and slow. If those complaints could be proven, then maybe there was validity to the lawsuit. At the very least, this shows that people have legal rights and that they didn’t think this was a big deal.

The Class Action lawsuit against Netflix is one of the first cases in the past few years to use this type of reasoning.

Many people are looking for damages due to the sluggish state of the company and the problems with its customer service. This class of lawsuit is certainly in favor of the individuals filing the suit, but the court may not see it this way. A lot of people have been disappointed by the results of these lawsuits where the defendant was found not liable for things that weren’t their fault.

The bottom line is that Netflix has to make a decision.

Will they choose to take a class action lawsuit and allow thousands of people to get their hands on refunds? Or will they choose to fight these charges in court and hope for the best? Only time will tell but it is important to watch for the coming decisions.
